RNA synthesis tends to have a lower coupling efficiency than DNA synthesis. As with DNA, short RNA oligos will include a low percentage of truncated products as a result of the less than 100% efficiency of coupling. These oligos may be sufficiently pure for your application without requiring additional purification.
For RNA applications that require high-precision, such as silencing or CRISPR mediated genome editing, we strongly recommend purification.
