Are the primers in SNAP SARS-CoV-2 panel designed to recognize mutations in the SARS-CoV-2 genome?
Primers should anneal to SARS-CoV-2 with one or two mismatches in the template if the mutations are more than approximately five bases from the 3´ end of the primer. Also, the tiled design of our SARS-CoV-2 panel results in coverage from extended amplicons generated from forward and reverse primers of neighboring amplicons, which provides an additional source of coverage should one of the primers from the intended amplicon design for that region fail to anneal.
